Terrate-25 is produced via a multi-step process from castor oil: cracking to 1-heptanol, Guerbet dimerisation to 2-pentylnonanol, followed by esterification with undecylenic acid. The result is a highly branched liquid ester.
Terrate-25 adds softness and shine without stickiness. It does not oxidise and does not develop rancidity in lip products – a key advantage over conventional castor oil.
